Energy Recovery from Air and Water Streams & Reuse Up To 215°F
Most energy recovery systems run exhaust air / water through a heat exchanger and use the heat to preheat the incoming air / water. Typically 15% to 35% of the energy can be recovered.
Nyle’s differentiation is two-fold: 1) We use heat pumps to extract the energy from the exhaust. This allows us to recover up to 100% of the energy and it allows us to heat the incoming air / water to a higher temperature than the exhaust, something that is impossible to do with conventional heat recovery systems. 2) We apply our high temperature heat pump know-how to be able to heat incoming air or water streams up to 215°F (102°C). We also recover energy through dehumidification, reducing unwanted moisture and recovering the energy for reuse.

Hot Fill Process at Beverage Manufacturer
A Hot Fill Process that heats beverages to 215°F (102°C), pasteurizing it during the filling process, then rapidly cooling the filled bottles to 70°F (21°C). Our system would recover the heat as part of the cooling process and pump it up to the 215°F pasteurization level. By recycling the heat, the total process energy requirement is reduced by approximately 70%. The system’s payback period is between 2 and 4.5 years, depending on gas prices. Our unique capability is to be able to reach the required 215°F efficiently.
Heating / Cooling for Sewage Treatment Plant
Use waste water as a geothermal source to heat or cool offices. The Heat Pump system extracts the heat from the waste water and uses it to heat offices in the winter. In summer, the process is reversed to provide air conditioning. The system is priced similarly to a heating and A/C system but is much less expensive to run. And in keeping with our ability to be responsive to customer needs, for these projects we provide heat exchangers that can be cleaned.
Dehumidification at Paper Mill
Hot humid air from the machines condenses on the roof, causing water to drip on paper products and the roof to rot. The mill currently runs a roof heating system. Our Heat Pump system recovers heat and moisture from the machines and recycles it as dry, hot air to heat the building. Payback period is 4 years. Our unique capabilities: Size of system and the effectiveness of drying the air.
Our Heat Pumps systems with their wide range of efficient operating temperatures and cleanable heat exchangers are uniquely capable to extract waste heat from many sources and then recycle this energy to heat water, air or generate electricity.
